Art Neville Passed Away At Age 81

Today we lose another New Orleans music legend. According to sources close to his family, Art Neville died Monday morning. He suffered years of declining health. He spent a half-century shaping the sound of New Orleans music. He was keyboardist, singer and a founding member of the Meters and the Neville Brothers. He was the voice of the Carnival season anthem β€œMardi Gras Mambo”, and the classic “Tell It Like It Is”,
A list of hits include: “Hey Pocky A-Way”, “Fire on the Bayou”, “People Say”, “Cissy Strut”, and many more to his credit.
“Papa Funk,” as he would later be called, was 81.
