WTIX News reporting: New Orleans’ own Mac Rebennack, a.k.a. Dr. John, passed away on Thursday at the age of 77, according to his publicist. The pianist, singer, and songwriter served as an ambassador for New Orleans music worldwide. He was honored with six Grammy Awards and induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
