Rosa Hawkins Of The Dixie Cups Passed Away
Rosa Hawkins, one of the three original singers in New Orleans music trio the Dixie Cups, has died.
Fellow Dixie Cup and sister Barbara Hawkins confirmed Rosa died from internal bleeding and other complications following a surgical procedure at Tampa General Hospital.
The Dixie Cups were best known for their 1964 No. 1 single “Chapel of Love” and the 1965 hit “Iko Iko.” Rosa pictured on the left here with Scott Colomb, the “Cups”, Pal Al in a Carnival promo video. Rosa was 76.
